From August 7th
through 28th of 2006 smart Car owners from across
the
country participated in the ClubsmartCar.ca Cross Canada Relay.
This
10,000-kilometre initiative started in Happy
Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and ended in Victoria,
British Columbia. It was the organizer's wish and mandate to promote the safety, long distance
capabilities, and
environmental aspects of the smart fortwo while raising funds for charity. The Bruce Denniston Bone Marrow
Society was
chosen to be the beneficiary. The
participants of this relay (75 drivers not
including the approximately
200 cars involved elsewhere along the journey) passed a baton from coast to
coast, as it
made its way to our National Headquarters in beautiful Powell River,
BC.
It is hoped this exciting relay will become an annual event.
Donations
from this event have exceeded $10,000. Thank you smarties!
